Giving away personal information
The INGOT web site lets you remain anonymous if you want to. Here are some disadvantages of giving away too much personal information.
1. You might say something you regret later but it's still up there for all to see - and information can get taken from one site to another so even if the INGOT people agreed to delete something, it could show up somewhere else.
2. You could have your id stolen. Someone could pretend to be you. If they get key information and you have a weak password they could even clean out your on-line bank account sometime in the future.
3. There are people who might want to do you harm and if they know who you are and where you will be at certain times you make it easier for them.
Here are some advantages to saying who you are.
1. If you do good work, it could be good for it to become well-known.
2. Its nice socially to know who people are. Mary or Armin are more friendly names than user 23589!
Of course you could have a new name on the internet if you don't like the one you were given! What do you think?
