What is a virus?

A virus is a computer program that can copy itself and can infect a computer. Viruses can increase their chances of spreading to other computers by infecting files on a network file system or a file system that is accessed by another computer. 

 

What damage can it do?

Some viruses can prevent you from being able to use your computer. Other viruses can damage specific parts of your computer. 

 

How can you stop yourself from getting a virus on your computer?

Normally people get an anti-virus program which warns when you get a virus on your computer and will try to stop them from happening again. Before you go on to a program the anti-virus program will scan the program your on and will see whether the program is safe or not. The program is very good from stopping a virus going on to your computer.
