Basics

On this page you can view all the teaching groups in your academy. All certification work is done based on teaching groups. Every group has an assessor and every learner must be in a group before receiving awards or marks. A learner can be in several groups at one time. For example, a learner can be in the group "ICT 8A" with one assessor and in the group "Maths 8C" with a different assessor. Many academies find it convenient to also have a group called YEAR 8 which contains ALL the learners in year 8 (for example). This way, when you need to create a new group, such as ICT 8B, you can select the pupils from within the YEAR 8 group.

On this page

From this page you can edit a group (e.g. to add or remove learners), delete a group or print awards for a group. Deleting a group does not delete the learners in the group. The learners are permanently part of the academy.

Learners without a group

It is possible for a learner to not be in any group. This might happen because the learner was just added to the system and doesn't have a group yet, or because the learner was in a group that was deleted. In either case, you can find learners who do not have a group if you click on the link "View learners who are not in any group".

FAQ

How do I edit a learner?: Find a group where the learner is. Click Edit. This takes you to the "Edit Group" page. From there, click on the link "Edit learners in this group".

I made changes but they don't appear: The changes made in one Tab will not immediately appear in others because changes are kept locally and only copied back to the main server from time to time. You can force this by clicking the small blue curved arrow in the right of the tab. This will refresh information from the server and up date the tab you are using.  The reason for doing this is to speed up the overall user experience so that the browser does not have to refresh and reedraw the screen on every single operation.
