  • To provide progressive assessment of functional skills and knowledge in ICT that is free from dependency on particular software and prepares candidates for the changing world of ICT at work irrespective of their age.

  • To lower barriers to entry to make certification accessible to a wider range of people (inclusion).

  • To provide routes from complete beginner to participation in activities that support the democratic process though social enterprise and support of the contribution of digital resources and services to the community.

  • To promote personalized learning and life-long learning relevant to modern office environments.

  • To use up-to-date communication technologies to lower the costs of administration, reduce the bureaucratic burden on teachers and trainers and improve the methods of authenticating certificates.

  • To increase the functional capabilities of teachers in ICT and their ability to assess these in the context of their work.

  • To contribute to lowering industry costs by promoting awareness and understanding of Open Standards and Open Source Software.

  • To promote international relations by supporting links between assessors and candidates in different countries and in international community projects based on social enterprise.

  • To promote collaborative learning strategies supporting learning how to learn as an integral part of the assessment process.
