  • Member of SMT (responsible for science, technology and assessment) that set up the first City Technology College (1988-1990)
  • Curriculum Director (Science and Maths) CTC Trust (Now the SSAT) (1990-1993)
  • Registered Inspector (OFSTED) education management consultant (1993 – 1998)
  • (Curriculum planning to justify building projects in GM schools, Affiliation visits for SSAT, training SSAT consultants, NPQH Assessor)
  • CEO IRL Computer Systems Ltd and education management consultant (1998- 2008)
  • (Written more than 200 successful specialist schools application, installed range of IT technologies in schools Windows and Linux, thin clients)
  • CEO The Learning Machine Ltd (QCA/Ofqual Accredited Awarding Body) (2006 – Present)
  • New Awarding Body initially supporting IT qualifications in schools. 2 Comenius EU projects, 1 complete 1 in progress two current applications value of 800,000 Euros. Recently provided the content for BECTA's Digital Literacy resources.
  • Work experience includes projects in Romania, United Arab Emirates, Germany, South Africa and Poland with research visits to countries including USA, NZ, Serbia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Spain.

Achievements

  • British Power lifting Champion 3 times, Silver and Bronze Medals in World Championships.
  • Won national MicroUser competition for software innovation (1989)
  • Designed graphics animations broadcast by Central TV for “Johnny Ball Reveals All”. (1990)
  • Key team member in devising the national Specialist Schools initiative and building the foundations of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust. (1990-93)
  • Obtained grant for 300,000 ECU for EC multimedia project with partners in Italy, Crete, Germany, Ireland and UK. (1990-93)
  • Founded IRIS, the Institute of Registered Inspectors in Schools, (professional association for inspection team leaders.) (1997)
  • Founded IRL Computer Systems Ltd and won Midlands Small Business of the Year with special commendation for financial management by IBM and Durham Business school (1998-2000)
  • Won Dti Smart Award for software development. (2002)
  • Peer elected education lead for the OpenOffice.org Open Source Community worldwide.
  • Obtained grants from British Chambers of Commerce, DTi and completed market research in 10 countries for INGOT certs. (2005)
  • Founded the Learning Machine Ltd and achieved Awarding Body Status (2006)
  • INGOT certificates accepted into the National Qualifications Framework (2007)
  • Currently working on QCF accreditation and expanding into Europe, Malaysia, South Africa and Canada.
