A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a program. It is usually capable of causing great harm to files and programs on the same computer.

What damage can a virus do?

It can spread into PC files and show random pop-ups trying to make you download something or sell you something. It could destroy and data on the same computer.

What are the different types of virus's?

There are lots of virus's that could affect you e.g. resident viruses, directory viruses, worm viruses,trojan horse viruses... All these affect your computer in different ways, but let me tell you something, none of them are good.

How can you stop a virus from infecting your computer?

Have a good anti-virus software and don't download or click on pop-ups for no reason. Do not download email attachments if you are unsure what it is as it can infect your computer through that.

What are the drawbacks of using anti-virus softwares?

A good anti-virus software isn't cheap and some update everyday which can slow down your internet connection. Ask around before just choosing an anti-virus software to see what is the most reliable.
