OpenSUSE is a distribution based on Linux.

Linux started off as an operating system as a hobby for a student (Linus Trovalds) at the university of Helsinki in Finland. He decided he wanted to develop it further.

People don't just use Linux because it is free, they use it because it is fast and reliable, and most of all it can be customised to make it however you want it.

When it first started off, only expiericed users used it, but today mroe and more people are startign to use it, because developers are constantly trying to make it user friendly.
