1. The learner will combine single words, signs or symbols to communicate meaning to a range of listeners.
The learner is able to use a preferred method to communicate meaning, for example, ‘Mummy gone’ or ‘more drink’.

2. The learner will make attempts to repair misunderstandings without changing the words used.
The learner is able to repeat what they have communicated when they have been misunderstood, for example, showing a specific sign again, or repeating a word.

3. The learner will use a vocabulary of over 50 words.
