What Is A Virus and What Damage Can It Do...
A virus is a small software computer program usually hidden within another seemingly program. They spread from one computer to another interfering with computer operations. Viruses produce copies of itself and insert themselves into other programs or files, which can cause them to damage or break down your computer system. Such as destroying or deleting data. Viruses normally spread through email attachments or instant email messages and can erase everything on your hard disk. A good thing to keep viruses far away from your computer is that you don't open any messages unless you know who it is from or your expecting it. To notice viruses they can be disguised as attachments, funny images, greeting cards or audio and video files.
What Types Of Viruses Are There...
Macro Virus: A Macro Virus is a piece of code that can be surrounded in a data file. The virus is more or less the same than other viruses but the difference is that they are attached to data file.
Resident Viruses: This type of virus stays in the RAM memory; from there it can overcome and interrupt all your files in your computer formed by the system. This virus damages viruses that are opened, copied, renamed etc.
Worms: A worm is a program similar to a virus. It has the mind to self-replicate your files and can put some negativity on your system. However it can be detected by anti viruses
Trojan Horse: The Trojan Horse virus is actually a normal computer game. This virus pretends to be a downloadable program e.g. a computer game, but actually can erase disks. Trojan horses are discovered quickly the reason why it does not affect a great number of people. This virus is different from others because it does not attempt to replicate itself.
FAT Virus: FAT stands for File Allocating Table and what this virus does its attack can be very dangerous. It accesses certain sections on a disk were important files are saved.
There are many more viruses. Be careful you do not experience any.
How Can You Prevent A Virus On Your Desktop
One way to prevent viruses from infecting your desktop, is to simply have an anti virus software on your computer. This type of software can detect and block any incoming viruses before they have a chance to cause any harm. A good anti-virus program can scan for viruses on your internal and external hard drive and any programs, files or documents. It the software finds any viruses, it will remove and delete them safely from your computer. An important rule is do not open attachments in emails from people you do not know because these attachments might contain things that will damage your computer. But do be careful when you open emails from people you do know especially if you do not know what the email is about. Attachments are good ways for a virus to sneak into your desktop and system.
