SAFE - UK/10/LLP-LdV/TOI-309 - end of phase 2 report
Note - All material originated after 31/03/2011 should be added here
Please do not add anything new to this page all new materials should be linked to the Phase 3 report page
- Management systems and cost recording systems in place
- Two meetings have been held together with electronic communications to ensure all partners are clear about what they are required to do
- Certification technology is in place (Login with Guest 1 password zepplin2, go to assessment and Pscales)
- The allocated grant for phase one has been spent with greater than 25% contributions from partners own funding
- Phase 1 reports in from each partner are summarised below.
- External adviser meeting and report received
Comments
Systems are working and constantly reviewed for scope for improvement. Technology for management of P-Scale assessment criteria has be improved to make it easier for non-technical people to manage. This was beyond the scope of the original application but it adds further value.
It is anticipated that partner contributions will exceed the 25% planned overall since new improvements arise all the time that are beyond the original specification planned more than a year ago. Grant will stay the same and partners have agreed to add further contribution where new ideas will add significant value.
- 20 Assessor trainers have been trained via the meetings and subsequent training by partner assessor trainers
- On-line assessors course/draft manual
Comments
First draft of training course 0n-line in place with interactive knowledge test and video case studies to illustrate the P-Scale levels. Further work will be carried out on this in the light of user feedback as the project progresses.

Comments
First games to support interactive learning are on line and ready for review and trials. This element is ahead of schedule but we need more time for checking (as with points for action in external adviser's report) and so getting early drafts and being flexible about improving them is important.
- Coordination of translations based on a GoogleDocs spreadsheet where all tasks are explained and deadlines are set up for all partners: SAFEToDo GoogleDocs
- Translation of web page materials
- Translation of project brochure
- Translation of the assessment criteria and certification web site
- Review of the certification web site for SEN
- Translation of the online games into all languages - http://www.ingotgames.org/safe/start.htm
Comments
The brochure has been translated into each partner language and it is available here
- Quality assurance criteria have been developed in consultation with partners and external pedagogical adviser. A meeting was held between the leader of WP 5, the project leader and the external adviser on 21st March to finalise the QA methods and review of the project planning.
- Gather evaluation data - this has been on-going as a great deal of new information has to be absorbed by the QA leader.
- Evaluation Specification
- Safe QA & Evaluation (FS v0.3)
- New questionnaire
- QA check on criteria
- Midterm Evaluation (2011)
Comments
A lot of work has been undertaken in familiarising the QA team with all aspects of the project. Some parts are new to all parties. The technology and assessment methods are new to the external evaluator/adviser but she is very familiar with PScales. The leader of the WP is very experienced with EU projects and quality requirements but not familiar with the project technology or Pscales. The project manager has an overview of all of these.
- Market research interim report on needs in each partner country is being compiled form data collection with an on-line questionnaire in progress.
- Questionnaire regarding the situation of SEN pupils (on-line displaying in progress). The questionnaire is related to the project's objectives. It aims at determining the level of competence acquired by SEN pupils as well as the extent to which teachers can handle the special educational needs of their pupils.
