P scales are assessment criteria designed in a similar way to those in the Qualifications and Credit Framework and the National Curriculum attainment targets that provide a framework below Entry level and National Curriculum Level 1 for learners with Special Educational Needs. There are no official nationally accredited qualifications based on P scales as they don't fit into the NQF, QCF or national accreditation models of the National Curriculum. This seems at odds with providing equal and fair treatment for those with learning disabilites so The Learning Machine has created a simple assessment and certification system for P scales based on teacher assessment and recording using a system compatible with the Assessment of Pupil Progress employed for the National Curricullum. These certificates cover the full subject range of the national curriculum.
