SKILLS FOR EMPLOYMENT

This qualification is designed to support learners of all ages in their journey into the world of work, or change of career, and to equip them with the skills, knowledge and behaviours that will help them make a success of their position. The units cover a diverse range of activities relating to the communication practices at work as well as the laws that would apply to someone in a work place. In addition, supplementary units look at issues of what it is to be a “worker” and by extension a citizen. The qualification looks at the importance and reasons behind good team work and the soft skills much required by companies in the 21st Century. Similar units allow learners to investigate their rights and responsibilities in the work place, as well as the laws that protect their health and well-being, as well as that of their work colleagues. The qualification also addresses some issues of entrepreneurship and looks at what is required in order to set-up and manage their own company, if they so wish. All of this material is underpinned by the social and psychological requirements of work and personal success.
